Description Description
Pleasant Pause | Across from Lake + Near Marina

Escape to the peaceful North Shore at Pleasant Pause Family Retreat, a newly upgraded three-bedroom cabin ideally situated across from Big Bear Lake in the charming community of Fawnskin. With Captain John’s Marina just steps away, historic downtown Fawnskin a short stroll from the home, and peaceful treetop surroundings, this single-level retreat offers an inviting home base for families and friends looking to experience a quieter side of Big Bear. Surrounded by towering pines, Pleasant Pause offers beautiful treetop views and sightlines toward the Big Bear eagle habitat associated with Jackie and Shadow. Start your morning surrounded by mountain scenery, spend the day exploring the lake, or simply enjoy the relaxed pace of Fawnskin from your own private retreat.

Inside, the spacious living room delivers classic mountain comfort with plush seating, a wood-burning fireplace, flat-screen TV with cable, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. It’s an inviting place to gather after a day on the lake, trails, or slopes. The newly renovated kitchen makes meals at home easy with oak cabinetry, modern appliances, a dishwasher, cookware, and everyday essentials. A dedicated dining area provides plenty of space to gather for breakfast before heading out or enjoy relaxed family dinners back at the cabin.

The convenient single-level layout features three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Bedroom 1 offers a queen bed plus a twin-over-twin trundle bed and shares a Jack-and-Jill bathroom with Bedroom 2, which features another queen bed. Bedroom 3 includes a queen bed, decorative fireplace, and private 3/4 bathroom with shower. A hallway full bathroom combined with the laundry room provides additional convenience, while the washer and dryer are especially useful for extended stays, lake days, and snowy winter gear.

Outside, enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere from the patio and sun deck. Sip your morning coffee beneath the pines, listen to the birds, prepare dinner on the charcoal BBQ, or relax outdoors after exploring Big Bear.
Pleasant Pause is especially well positioned for guests who want lake access without giving up convenient access to Big Bear’s major attractions. The lake and Captain John’s Marina are just steps away, historic downtown Fawnskin is within strolling distance, and Big Bear Village, ski resorts, restaurants, and shopping are under ten minutes away.

Thank you for making our trip so memorable. We had a bad experience in another rental last night, and we were given this as another option. Glad we got to stay here!! Would definitely stay here again! We all love all the details and how well it's all laid out. Thanks again!
