From little doors and hidden stairs to a secret passage waiting to be discovered, this three-bedroom retreat offers an experience unlike your typical Big Bear cabin while keeping you close to the slopes, lake, and The Village.

Inside, vintage character and modern entertainment come together throughout the home. Stained glass windows, unique architectural details, and cozy spaces reflect the cabin’s historic roots, while large streaming TVs and Wi-Fi provide the conveniences of today. Explore the home and discover its playful layout, hidden connections between rooms, and charming details that have made this cabin a Big Bear original since 1928.

The traditional cabin kitchen continues the home’s historic feel and provides a comfortable space for preparing meals during your stay. Nearby, one of the two full bathrooms features a classic claw-foot bathtub—a fitting detail for a home that has welcomed mountain visitors for almost 100 years.

Three comfortable bedrooms accommodate up to six guests. The first bedroom features a king bed, streaming TV, and fireplace for cozy evenings in. The second and third bedrooms each offer a queen bed and streaming TV, with the second bedroom also featuring a sofa. Two full hallway bathrooms provide convenience for the group.

When you're ready to explore, Hobbit House puts many of Big Bear’s favorite attractions within easy reach. Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are both a quick drive away for skiing and snowboarding, while Big Bear Lake is just moments to the north. Awesome spot!
Definitely has the cabin vibe to it. It?s in a great area in Big Bear away from all the traffic but only a 10 minute drive to the blvd. It?s a 20 minute walk to Snow Summit. Would definitely stay here again

Cool, quirky house
The convenience of the location of this house to the Ski resort, tubing, and downtown Big Bear was excellent. Cute house with some neat accents that the kids will love.

Unique home
This home was fantastic. So many details and little doors; so cool. I loved the Christmas Tree and lights inside the home!!! You had all the amenities that you could want or need. Jacuzzi was awesome!! I can?t wait to come back!!

Honestly the house was so cute the living room was really big and spacious the hot tub was so fun the neighbors were really cool the parking space wasn?t bad definitely would love to come back again just got to get that vacation time __________

Unique Experience!
The house is different and charming; with a unique vibe from most houses. A bit of a labyrinth, you can find many little doors and entrances, that seem frivolous, and that is half the fun!

Worth every penny
Took the family out to Big Bear for our fifth year anniversary. Chose this cabin for the historic value. My wife loved it with all the secret doors and hall ways. Would definitely rent this cabin again.

A Perfect Getaway
We used Vacasa to book the Hobbit House in Big Bear for the New Year and it was perfect!

We had a lovely retreat in this warm and cosy house. The decor is quirky and we had fun looking around the house when we first arrived. The kitchen was great for preparing meals for our large group and we all enjoyed sitting in the main living area eating, talking and playing games! The beds were comfy and the house was really clean. We all made use of the hot tub which was really hot and relaxing; perfect

Hobbit House
Loved the rustic character of this 90 year old cabin.... It was set back up away from town which was so quiet and serene.... there were hiking trails we could walk to from the cabin and the lake was a short drive away. It was great to be able to come back in the evening and sit out back in the jacuzzi too.
